Do you think students need exercise? My answer is Yes! You need a lot of exercise to help with your academic.
Nowadays, a lot of students are lacking of exercise. “I don’t have luxurious time to do exercise.”,it’s common to be heard by us. I can definitely tell you that, this is a lame excuse. If you don’t exercise, you are not planning to have a healthy body. Many people do works and study until midnight. In their eyes, exercise is a kind activity idling their time away. So, you need to be scheduled. Plan a schedule, write your aims and activities that you want to do or achieve in a day. Exercise in the early morning and in the dusk. Maybe you can’t see the benefits of exercise but I will assure that you will regret if you don’t that. Now, the main problem is “why do we, as students need exercise?”
1# Students need Exercise to Sharpen the Mind.
Do you know that 80% of Malaysians do not get the recommended amount of exercise per week. This statistic has made a lot of people stunt. Actually, students need exercise! And we need a lot of it! A teenager should do at least 2.5 hours of moderate- intensity aerobic exercise each week or 1 hour and 15 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity or a combination of both. By doing exercise, your body is healthier and your mind is working. Try to put on your thinking caps, what kind of benefits will you get if you don’t do exercise? Now, try to feel the power of your mind. Your mind is the cortex of your whole body and it’s like a CPU of computer. If your CPU has broken down, would you still have your ability to functioning your computer. The answer is no. The condition is same as your mind. If your mind is working slowly, you will think slowly and you maybe don’t the innovation power or creativity as well. Exercise can activate your mind and make it runs like a speeding turbo car.
2# Reduce risky diseases.
How about we do an experiment? Now, rise up your right hand and put it on your chest. Feel the pumping of your heart. Is it good? Try to close your eyes, imagine that you are in an empty room,suddenly heart attack happens. What will you do? Perhaps you will regret that you didn’t do exercise before.
According to a news from The Star, 3.6 million or 14.9% of Malaysian suffering from diabetes. American Heart Association made a report, a man should take 37.5 grams or 9 teaspoon of sugar per day. While a woman should take 25 grams or 6 teaspoon of sugar per day. Don’t take in too much of sweet things per day. You may suffering from diabetes in next 20 years. In 10 years, our nation who suffers from diabetes has up to 200%. Quite terrifying.
Now, the 1st killer disease is heart disease. Coronary heart disease is the most dangerous disease. So, by doing exercise, we can relax our mind and our body. Exercise making our muscle actives and our heart pumping regularly. Exercise 20 minutes per day can reduce heart disease up to 25%.
So, is it arguably that students need exercise?
3# Relax our mind.
Malaysians also have another main problem. That’s stress. And, Malaysia students need exercise to make us totally relax. Many of us don’t know how to relax ourself. For a worker, the average working hour is 8 hours per day. After we go back, our demon inside our mind will tell us “Let’s call it a day.” Day by day, we will obey the devil instruction and we won’t do exercise. You have to know that you are the one who control your mindset, if you don’t do exercise, who will help you to do it. It’s your health. I can only bring you to the river, whether you drink the water or not, it’s up to you. My duty is to give you a piece of advice.
When we are doing exercise, we can free our mind. Put your works or your homework beside. Just enjoy the progress of exercising. Keep your mind free, notice the trees around you, take a deep breath, lace up your sport shoes and have a jog. Mind is our body centre, you can’t let it works 24 hours, it needs to rest like a computer. When you are feeling stress or tired, do some exercise. A set of 20 minutes of exercise can help you to put down your heavy burden.
4# Students need exercise to Promote a Better Sleep.
Sleep is very prominent to human beings. 8 hours of sleep can make you feel energized in the second day. Students need exercise to make them sleep better. Even some of the people who don’t carry out exercise can sleep well but their minds aren’t rest. They usually will have dream when they are sleeping. Their minds maybe can only rest properly for 2 or 3 hours. You will find out that, they are still feeling sleepy even they have slept for 8 hours.
Exercise significantly improves the sleep of people with chronic insomnia. In these studies, after 4 to 24 weeks of exercise, adults with insomnia fell asleep more quickly, slept slightly longer, and had better sleep quality than before they began exercising. It can help you reduce anxiety and depression. For a student, sleep is important. It helps you to focus. For a worker, it helps you to have the strength to think new ideas. This will impress your boss. “ Sleep is the golden chain that ties health and our bodies together.” Students need exercise to relax the mind and to protect the body internal organ. In this case, you can see the effect clearly, you will sleep better than the anyone who doesn’t do exercise. Sleep is the best meditation.
All students need exercise. My last advice is to start exercise from now on. Do at least 20 minutes of exercise per day. A set of exercise a day, keep the doctor away. Exercise brings many good impact to us. Keeping your body healthy is your responsible. Body is your wealthiest treasure. If you lose it, you will never find another one. So, work hard and exercise harder. Aa an old idiom quotes”no play makes jack a dull boy.” Your body is worth for you to exercise.
